Vehicle Telematics
What is Telematics?
Telematics is the connection of telecommunications, phone lines & cables, and informatics; computer systems. Today, telematics is mainly used in commercial fleet vehicles for collecting and transmitting data on vehicle maintenance, vehicle use and vehicle coordination and is sometimes used for checking out the profitability and productivity of the entire fleet.
Telematics systems include a vehicle tracking device installed in a vehicle that allows the sending, receiving and storing of data. It connects via the vehicle’s own onboard diagnostics by way of a SIM card, which enables communication via a mobile network.
The device collects GPS data and transmits it via GPRS, 4G or satellite communication to a central server. The server interprets the data and enables it to be displayed for end users via secure websites, smartphones and tablets. The data captured can include speed, sitting time, location, hard acceleration, fuel consumption, braking and vehicle faults. This information can provide in-depth insights across an entire fleet.
Advanced Vehicle Systems offer the following systems which will cover all of your telematics requirements.
